Chainsaw Juggler on Apple IOS

December 19th, 2017 | Blog

A gif of me juggling 3 chainsaws is on the Apple IOS!

On Saturday night a friend of mine who lives in California sent a text that I found very cool.  He said he was sending a text to a friend and wanted a juggling gif for his text.  He entered “juggler” into the search field on his iPhone and the first result that came up was me!

Although no credit was given to me,  and no one asked if they could do this, I thought it was super cool!  Of course, I would have preferred if it would have said “Ian Stewart” somewhere on the image.  But I just like my work being out there,  especially on such a widely used platform as Apple iPhone!

It’s a loop of a video I posted on Youtube:  https://youtu.be/OoJW-_OeFtw

At first I couldn’t figure out how to put this gif into this blog,  but here’s a still frame from it

The video that makes this gif is interesting because I recorded it in my yard one very cold November day.  As you can see there are no leaves left in the tree as they have fallen off for the winter.  The purpose of making this video was to show a friend my new trick that I had been doing to end certain shows.  There was initially no intention of it being for public viewing.

I posted the video on YouTube,  but forgot to push the “private” setting.  I wasn’t aware anyone could see it until a TV show in Japan wrote and asked permission to use the footage.  Of course I was happy to allow it,  and it was the first of several TV shows that have since used this clip.

Here’s the gif,  as I saw it on the iPhone.

The comments after the video are priceless.  “I too dislike having hands”, “Dang. That chainsaw is flaming hot.” and “*Globetrotter Whistling*” are my favourites!

Das Supertalent

December 10th, 2017 | Blog

This week I appeared on the German version of the “Got Talent” franchise called Das Supertalent.  A great crew to work with, some incredible entertainment to work with, and an audience that was a lot of fun to perform for!

Das Supertalent was my 3rd got talent show!

A few years back I performed on Canada’s Got Talent.  Sadly it only lasted one season, and they never aired my appearance.  I was featured on the commercial as well as mentioned several times in the promotion.  The producer even said in an interview that I was the funniest act on the show!  But sadly the show wasn’t well put together and failed to get ratings so there was never a second season.

Then in 2015 I performed on Americas Got Talent.  They didn’t air my audition either, but they aired my second appearance.

So, Das Supertalent is the first Got Talent show to air my audition!  And I’m glad they did!  I got 3 yes marks from the judges, which is the same as I’ve gotten in the unaired auditions from the other two shows.  I did two stunts on the show, the blowtorch on the tongue and juggling 3 chainsaws.

I have 3 tricks that have never been seen ready for tv appearances, but I saved them for now incase I get the chance to perform on another American show.

Check out my appearance here:

Here’s a link to Das Supertalent videos, some great stuff here:  https://www.rtl.de/cms/sendungen/das-supertalent.html

And the ill fated Canada’s Got Talent has a Wikipedia page at  that tells a bit of the story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada%27s_Got_Talent

And of course Americas Got Talent can be found at https://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent

There are many franchises of Got Talent and while I’m happy to have worked on 3 of them,  I would love to do more, or possibly even return!

Mud Bay Jugglers

December 4th, 2017 | Blog

This week I had the chance to visit the beautiful DeCost Centre in Pictou to enjoy a performance by the Mud Bay Jugglers.

The DeCost Centre is a great performance venue in Pictou, Nova Scotia.  I have enjoyed many shows there over the years,  the last show I saw at the DeCost before the Mud Bay Jugglers was magician Ted Outerbridge with his Clockwork Mysteries tour.  A great magic show and a great performer.  I had the chance to Ted in Calgary a few years ago when we were on the same bill,  and it was great to see him again.  His website is http://www.tedouterbridge.com

The DeCost Centre’s website is https://decostecentre.ca and they almost always have something on the schedule of interest to everyone.

The Mud Bay Jugglers Don’t juggle chainsaws

The Mud Bay Jugglers don’t juggle chainsaws,  there was no danger, although they said they often end the show with fire juggling.  This said,  I really enjoyed seeing the show!  Anyone that knows me knows that I tend to use a lot of danger theme in my shows.  But the Mud Bay jugglers do a full theatre show with juggling clubs, balls, rings, and a few musical instruments.  They hardly speak through the entire show, relying more on visual appeal than verbal.  There is a lot of juggling, a lot of club passing, and many pretty patterns shown!

I had the chance to chat after the show and all members of the Mud Bay jugglers were so friendly and full of questions.  Harry (left person in the pic), was especially friendly and happy to discuss the world of juggling.

If you ever get the chance to see the Mud Bay Jugglers I’d recommend it.  It’s a very (and I mean VERY) different style from what I do,  but there was something in the show for everyone and I had a great time!

Halifax Metro News Chainsaw Juggling Article

November 26th, 2017 | Blog

I was delighted to see an article about my favourite Guinness World Record in the Halifax Metro Newspaper.

They did a story on my record for juggling 3 chainsaws for more throws and catches than anyone else has ever done.

Here’s a pic of the article:

A great article,  but I had to laugh when I read it.  It says “Nova Scotia Native Ian Stewart set the world record this past September”.  Sadly,  it is currently 2017 and I broke that record back in 2011.  Regardless it was nice to be mentioned!

I sent an email to the writer of the article and mentioned that i had recently broken a few more records,  but received no response from the writer, Sean Plummer of Halifax Metro News.  But again,  a huge thank you to Sean for taking the time to write the article!

I’m busy this time of year performing the show for corporate groups.  A lot of fun to see everyone getting involved!

2 New Chainsaw Juggling World Records

Chainsaw Juggler in Vegas

Ian Stewart in Vegas

I spent the last week in beautiful Las Vegas.  I had time for a lot of fun, food, exercise and shows!  My go to is Absinthe which I watched for the 3rd time.  Always a great show,  but was sad that Melody Sweets had moved onto other things (you can still find here here:  http://www.melodysweets.com).  If you’re ever in Vegas and looking for a fun show,  this is a good show,  Sweets or not!  http://www.absinthevegas.com/

When I arrived home I checked the mail and found that Guinness World Records had sent me certificates for 2 more chainsaw juggling world records!  I have a few more records I’ve broken awaiting approval from Guinness,  but I’m getting closer to my goal of 12 records.  They don’t list the 2 records on the website,  but they are both records for chainsaw juggling.  One is for a record while juggling one chainsaw and 2 balls,  and the other is a record for juggling 3 chainsaws.

I have a few more chainsaw juggling records to break,  however in my mind the only true world record with chainsaw juggling is the record for the most throws and catches while juggling 3 chainsaws.  All others pale in comparison.  Guinness has recently put on their site that they are accepting a record for the longest duration for juggling 3 saws.  My record for most throws and catches took approximately 37 seconds.  The longest duration must take at least a minute to qualify.  But I do find this record appealing.

I recently acquired some new lighter saws from a friend overseas.  Using his lightweight handles I have plans to break the time record,  and smash my existing 3 chainsaw throws and catches record at the same time.

Even though I consider the most catches of a chainsaw and 2 balls to be the only record that matters,  I still enjoy breaking other records,  just for personal achievement.

Here is a link to my existing record with 3 chainsaws,  the one that I’m most proud of:  http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/most-chainsaw-juggling-catches

Atlantic Outdoor Show

November 7th, 2017 | Blog

I returned to the Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show this past spring to do some chainsaw juggling for the crowds.  I love this event as it’s a really fun show,  and the other acts have included things like log rolling, dog shows, stunt bike riding and even wrestling.

Here’s a short video of me juggling the saws at the event

I have been here for many years and hope to be back again as the Darwin Event Group puts on a great show evertime!

Update:  January 8th, 2018:  I’ve just been invited back for another year!
